Scandinavian style is, above all, breathability, lightness and lack of unnecessary clutter. You probably know how it is - the fewer "dust catchers" on the shelves, the better you breathe and live. Scandinavians focus on nature, bright colors and lots of light, which makes their interiors incredibly cozy. But have you ever wondered how to add a bit of style to it all without spoiling the minimalist atmosphere? The answer is simpler than you think: brass. This is what, in the right form, can work miracles.
Brass plays the main role, but in moderation
The truth is that in a Scandinavian home there is no place for random trinkets. Forget about heavy, baroque figurines. Here, brass is supposed to be functional. It's about details that have a role to play. Think about lamps, tables or flower pots - everyday objects that, thanks to their dark gold color, become interior jewelry.
A great example is the Dutchbone style lamp - it has something predatory, an unusual shape that attracts the eye, but still remains "in the mood". Placed next to the sofa, it not only looks beautiful, but creates the perfect corner for evening reading. And if you have a chest of drawers in the living room, place a brass desk lamp on it. You will see how on these gray autumn days such warm light immediately changes the mood in the entire room.

Green in brass
Scandinavian interiors love plants. But instead of ordinary plastic covers, try something that will add character to them. Brass flower pots on legs are a hit! They look amazing, and when placed in a group they create a small home garden in the living room. If you have a small console table next to the armchair, place an epipremnum on it. Its green, hanging leaves contrast beautifully with the metal and create a natural, living decoration. It is such connections that make the house unique.
Practical decorations, or how to use walls
You often ask me how to arrange empty walls so that it doesn't get boring. In my opinion, it is worth combining business with pleasure. How about a set of brass hangers that look like little works of art on the wall? You can hang a hat, keys or a bag on them and have a ready-made decoration. If you add a mirror in a brass frame and illuminate it all with a warm-colored bulb, the "wow" effect is guaranteed. Brass reflects light beautifully, making even a simple hall gain depth.

I know that the Scandinavian style is associated with austerity, but believe me - a bit of "dark gold" in the form of practical items does not destroy it at all. On the contrary, it adds the elegance we all want. Try to smuggle brass in small doses and see for yourself how your space will change.

FAQ – Frequently asked questions
Will brass look too "heavy" in a bright, Scandinavian living room?
Absolutely not! If you choose objects with a light structure, for example on thin legs, brass will add character to the interior without overwhelming it.
Do such accessories require special care?
Just wipe them with a soft cloth from time to time. Brass may patina slightly over time, which in my opinion only adds nobility to the items.
