Paper lamps – how to make a paper lampshade yourself?
Scandinavian lamp shades and others are often made of translucent paper. The main reason for this is the fact that the paper lampshade prepared in this way perfectly disperses the light. At the same time, it guarantees a rich, warm glow flowing over the surrounding surfaces. It's easy to imagine the decorative possibilities that come with it. One of the most commonly used papers is speckled parchment. This type of paper is usually oiled, which makes the surface of the lampshade much more durable. Why are paper lamps a fashion that never goes away and how to install a paper lampshade? We suggest below!
What should you remember when using paper lamps?
A paper lampshade, lanterns, paper lamps or a paper lampshade create a warm and magical atmosphere. In fact, regardless of where they appear. Due to the material from which we will make our own lamp, we should pay attention to safety issues. Want to use a paper lampshade? If so, all you need to do is follow a few simple tips. They will help you fully enjoy your handmade product. First of all, make sure that the light bulb you are using does not come into contact with the paper. Leave at least a few centimeters of space between the paper and the light bulb. Choose the right bulb and pay attention to its power. Use a low wattage bulb and never exceed the recommended wattage of a paper lamp. Fluorescent bulbs and LED bulbs are good choices for paper lamps. Why? Because they tend to stay cooler than traditional bulbs during use. Also, if possible, look for fire-resistant paper, as this is also available on the market. This will minimize the risk of the paper lamp igniting.

Step 1
When it comes to paper, you can use cardboard, thicker technical paper, rice paper, or even baking paper! Prepare a sheet of paper and the basic tools you will need, i.e. scissors, a wallpaper cutter, a ruler, glue and a pencil*.
Step 2
Using an A4 sheet of paper, we cut out a square. Fold the square in half on both sides to mark the center of the paper.

Step 3
We open the folded paper and fold all the corners inwards.
Step 4
We turn the folded paper over. Then we repeat step 3. That is, we bend the corners inwards.
Step 5
We "pull out each of the resulting corners" to create a convex structure.
We repeat the above steps until the desired number of elements is achieved. The larger the paper lamp you design, the more elements you will have to assemble and connect. Finally, glue the A4 sheets around the lampshade. After that, you can proceed to gluing the paper elements that you folded earlier. A paper ball or other shape lampshade made in this way will certainly look great!
