Interior design is older than you think | Scandinavian style
We'll start with prehistory because interior design it's older than you think. After all, prehistoric rock drawings preserved in caves can be considered interior design! If not prehistory, then later times - the oldest preserved carpet in the world is over 2,500 years old.
Interior design in the Victorian era was a dangerous activity because, for example, the paint contained poisonous elements such as lead and arsenic! No matter what you say, man has always liked to create spaces around himself that allowed him to live well and comfortably.
Elsie de Wolfe (1865 – 1950), American actress, is widely considered to be the person who turned interior design into a profession. Currently, it is quite well paid, and the best designers also have celebrity status. For example, in the UK, Kelly Hoppen, one of the most famous interior designers, has well over many hundreds of thousands of followers on Twitter. Additionally, interior design is a diploma subject and in some countries it can even be studied at PhD level.
The world's largest furniture fair takes place every year in Milan. Salone Internazionale del Mobile di Milano takes place every year in April and showcases the latest furniture and design from countries around the world. It attracts thousands of people interested in design to Italy every year.
Good interior design also includes elements of psychology
First of all, attempts to optically enlarge space should be considered such. Secondly, colors - they help, but they also influence us more than we think, our emotions and moods. Blue, for example, reduces appetite, and orange increases concentration and efficiency. Leonardo Da Vinci already wrote down what we now call “color theory,” a key aspect of interior design! Thirdly, a beautiful natural view from the window, apart from its aesthetic value, has a primary impact on a person's attitude towards life, to the extent that it can relieve pain and quickly restore strength to the person enjoying such a view.
Some interior design elements never go out of fashion
For example, a large amount of natural light is always considered an advantage because it has a primary impact on a person's mental strength. Too little light can disrupt the natural rhythm of human life, which in turn can lead to various types of disorders that may ultimately negatively affect the immune system.
Interior design varies greatly from country to country
A contemporary Italian home is typically furnished with a mix of modern Italian furniture and traditional or antique pieces. For example, next to a modern, low-slung sofa, you will see an antique chest of drawers. What is considered the pinnacle of style in one country may be completely unacceptable in a neighboring one! However, there is one form of interior design that seems to be widely accepted nowadays - this Scandinavian style. Scandinavian style in the apartment has been very popular in recent years - a trend that shows no signs of waning, quite the contrary. Minimalist interior design is by far the core concept of the 21st century. At bihome.pl you will find Scandinavian furniture, modern Scandinavian lamps, and Scandinavian chests of drawers in many fascinating forms. Scandinavian designers and Scandinavian furniture manufacturers and such as Hubsch, House Doctor and Madame Stolz dominate our offer.
